Our Governors

Mary Richards (Chair of Governors)

I have worked for Norfolk County Council for over 30 years in many various management roles. For the last few years I have worked within Children’s Services as the Governor Services Manager and more recently as the Senior Officer for child employment, which includes children working in the entertainment business.

I have been a school governor for many years. This, combined with being a Vice Chair of a board of trustees of a large multi academy trust, has equipped me with an in-depth knowledge of school governance.

I have five wonderful grandchildren who continue to motivate me in doing all I can to secure the very best possible outcomes for all children, including their health safety and well-being.

Paul Palik

I have lived in Norfolk for most of my life (and have lived in Wymondham since January 2015).

I am a Partner at Birketts LLP where I have acted for high profile local educational establishments and advised Governors and senior staff on important strategic and operational decisions. I am active in the business community and work hard to contribute to the development of our School.

Education and the School experience are vitally important for our children. I welcome input from parents and carers.

In my spare time, you will often find me at Ketts Park coaching youth football for Wymondham Town United Football Club.

Emily Northmore

I I have lived in Norfolk ever since I got married 20 years ago, and I've lived in Wymondham for 11 years ever since my second daughter was born.

I have worked for robert kett primary for 7 years, and previously social services, where i learned the importance of safeguarding children and families. I enjoy working at Robert Kett as a parent support adviser, and have a good idea of the school ethos and know lots of the children.

Both of my children have gone through Robert Kett, and loved their time here.

Mark Higgins (Vice Chair)

I currently work as an aviation advisor and inspector in the Offshore, maritime & superyacht industry. As part of my role I sit on National and international working groups and liaise with the UK CAA to ensure continual development in aviation safety. Previous to this role I was a Firefighter in the RAF and a Firefighting & offshore safety instructor in Norwich.

I have 2 children attending Robert Kett and both thoroughly enjoy their time at school.

I look forward to assisting the current team of governors in delivering the schools strategic priorities and contributing to the vision and ethos of the school.

Simon Smyth

I have lived in Norfolk all my life and moved to Wymondham in 2016.  I have 2 children, who both attend Robert Kett and very much enjoy their time at the school.

I am a procurement professional with over 20 years experience of leading teams, delivering change and over sighting commercial arrangements.  I believe my work experience will help me support the school in the delivery of its vision and strategic priorities.

Lewis Craske

I have lived in Wymondham for the past 12 years with my wife and now two sons who both attend Robert Kett Primary.

I am keen to support the school in its ongoing development working as part of the Governing Body. I am fond of and suited to working as part of a team, whether that be with colleagues or partners.

As a Detective Inspector I manage teams investigating serious and complex offences. I regularly sit on multi-agency panels reviewing domestic homicides and child safeguarding practices.

Penny Lumb

Having lived and taught abroad for many years, I returned to the UK and worked at a school in Norwich, where I was a Reception teacher and KS 1 lead. I was also a Governor at the school.

I am passionate about the importance of Early Years in education and believe that it is essential to build a strong Foundation Stage in order for children to succeed throughout the rest of their schooling.

I love to read, sew and craft and find joy in spending time with my children and grandchildren.

Kyle Beeson

I have been a primary school teacher since 2018, having previously working in retail banking for a couple of high street banks. Since becoming a teacher I have specialised in Key Stage 2 and I am currently the maths lead for the school. After leading on a successful reading fluency project for the school in the last academic year, I am also currently leading a project to improve oracy across the school.

Education is something I have always been passionate about and strongly believe in life long learning - something I ensure I practice and not just preach and am completing my dissertation for Masters in Education this year as well as a National Professional Qualification in Leading Teaching. Prior to returning to university to gain a degree and pursuing teaching, I worked for two high street banks in sales roles where I gained my qualification in mortgage advice and practice. Whilst I was studying for my degree I also undertook some temporary work in a small multi-academy trust’s finance department which has given me a good understanding of schools funding.

Kevin Blakey

“I have worked in leadership roles within the education sector for over 15 years. I am presently an Executve Headteacher for Unity Schools Partnership but live locally. I started my education career in Norfolk at Wymondham College and still enjoy links to the town. I have two children of primary school age and my wife is a former primary school teacher and Governor.

I am looking forward to working with the Governing Body and the staff at Robert Kett over the next few years.
