Computing
Computing Statement
At Robert Kett Primary we believe Computing is essential so that all children become digitally literate in our ever more technological world.
All Children will have the opportunity to learn how to use technology safely, confidently and competently. We will be following the CUSP iPad Curriculum which will allow children to become more competent at using iPads.
Computing will be taught across four strands:
- Digital Technology – Understanding the fundamental building blocks of computers and digital networks.
- Digital Programming – Using instructional demands to solve problems.
- Digital Safety – Using the internet and technology safely.
- Digital Creativity – Using a variety of technology and apps to create meaningful and relevant content.
We believe e-safety is a fundamental element of computing teaching and technology use at Robert Kett, integral to both teaching and the use of technology in school. This focus will be revisited annually and reinforced as needed to ensure ongoing awareness and understanding.
The skills and knowledge taught through the above strands will ensure children become digital natives who understand technology, recognise its potentials and limitations, know how to use it safely and are able to take advantage of different tools to create their own meaningful digital content.
The knowledge and skills taught through the four strands will build on across key stages to ensure a solid grounding for future learning and beyond and will respond to new developments in technology.
The use of technology will also be used to enhance learning throughout Year group curriculums to deepen understanding across all subjects.
