The inclusive culture and ambitious curriculum at Robert Kett Primary School have been praised in an Ofsted report.

The positive and respectful behaviour of pupils was also singled out following an inspection by the national watchdog.

Under the new Ofsted guidelines, the school was rated as achieving the ‘Expected standard’ across all key areas, fostering an open culture where ‘pupils are made safer and feel safe.’

Headteacher Cara Fahey said: “We are delighted that Ofsted has recognised the hard work, commitment and achievements of our pupils, staff, governors and wider school community.

“This outcome reflects the dedication of everyone involved in our school and our shared commitment to providing the very best education, care and opportunities for every child.

“The inspection highlighted the positive relationships across the school, the ambition we have for all pupils and the strong culture of learning that helps children to thrive both academically and personally.

“We are particularly proud that inspectors recognised our caring ethos, high expectations and the inclusive environment we have created – where every child is known, valued and supported to succeed.”

The report praised the school’s strong Key Stage 2 outcomes in reading, writing and mathematics and the fact all pupils, including those with SEND and disadvantaged backgrounds, make good progress from their starting points.

The school’s curriculum was highlighted as well-structured and ambitious while early years provision was said to have a strong focus on wellbeing and preparation for Year 1.

Under the guidance of school leaders, pupils’ behaviour was described as positive, calm and respectful with the school recognised as a welcoming, inclusive environment.

The report marks a significant milestone for the school since joining Unity Schools Partnership, noting that leaders have successfully addressed previous areas for improvement to create a welcoming environment where pupils live out the school’s vision of ‘achieving together’ every day.
